Encaenia is the ancient annual ceremony at which the University of Oxford awards Honorary Degrees to distinguished former students and members of the arts and science fields. It usually takes place on the Wednesday of the ninth week of Trinity Term (in June). Recent recipients of Honorary Degrees include human rights campaigner Aung San Suu Kyi (2012) and paralympian Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson (2013).
