This evocative photo by Seth Lazar is an iconic view of Oxford’s “Dreaming Spires”. Residents, students and visitors have enjoyed the view since the park was given to the city in 1951 by the Oxford Preservation Trust, who bought the land from local brewing family the Morrells in 1939. At the foot of the park, a large carved stone by the sculptor Eric Gill records its history: This park was acquired by the Oxford Preservation Trust through the liberality of the Pilgrim Trust and David and Joanna Randall-McIver 1932.
