Bulldog walking across Radcliffe Square, Oxford
£39.00
The Oxford University Police (popularly known as Bulldogs) was founded in 1829 and disbanded in 2003, when they were redesignated Proctor’s Officers; they were one of the oldest Police Forces in the UK, founded in the same year as the Metropolitan Police. Recognisable by their distinctive bowler hats, Proctor’s Officers can be seen outside the Examination Schools and at official University events, such as here, before the Encaenia ceremony.
