The Art of The Radcliffe Camera

The Art of The Radcliffe Camera

The Oxford Radcliffe Camera was designed by Architect James Gibbs but inspired by the work of Christopher Wren and circular temples from classical antiquity. The building was paid for by the physician Dr John Radcliffe. Gibbs said the new library would be ‘a public Building seen by all sorts of people who come to Oxford from different parts of the World’. With 5.8 million tourists visiting Oxford per year it is not surprising that many of them want to include The Radcliffe Camera on an organised walking tour such as that provided by Oxford Time Tours.
